Eye Center Architects Kansas City

This project was commissioned by Sabates Eye
Center to house an Ambulatory Surgery Center, a
Treatment Center and their Corporate Offices.
Leawood zoning ordinances dictated a maximum size
of 29,500sf.  Guy Gronberg Architects, P.C. provided
complete architectural services from the early stages
of space programing and site planning, through
exterior design, interior layout, and construction

Design Objective:

With a diverse agenda, and a long wish list we
worked closely with the client to develop a space
program that would meet their needs.  From here a
site analysis and overall building form took shape.
Due to zoning requirement the exterior had to blend
with existing University Park development.  This was
achieved with matching brick, reflective glass, and
cast stone elements.   At the main building entry we
played with the massing of the structure and
designed an cantilevered entry canopy to set the
building apart from the rest of the development.  The
Ambulatory Surgery Center, and Corporate Office
were laid out on the upper floor while the Treatment
Center was placed on the main floor.  The treatment
spaces are arranged around the central reception
and waiting area.  There is a doctor office and nurse
station at each corner to allow each to serve the
adjacent set of exam rooms.
